What does The 100 look like?

Get a taste of what went down in 2018 in Hamburg, Germany

What is ‘The 100’?

A two-day coming together of 100 people around future relevant topics and themes, where selected participants speak, lead discussions, and help other participants develop ideas, concepts and prototypes to change their work, life and world.

Wait, this isn’t a conference?

We don’t believe in the conference model. We believe in the cross-pollination of inspiration and ideas from one person to another. We believe in creating something together and not sitting and listening to a line-up of esteemed individuals. We believe in esteemed individuals having a group discussion and making something out of that discussion. We believe in the maker spirit and learning by doing. We believe in you leaving the 100 and the next week implementing your learnings and the ideas you created into your work, life, and world.

That sounds awesome, but exactly, how does it work?

1-share@2x.jpg

Share

Our 8 speakers will talk about their experiences, their craft, and hold a discussion on that thematic area to 100 talented individuals.

2-ideate@2x.jpg

Ideate

Then we will break the 100 into 10 pods which will conceptualize ideas and solutions to topic relevant timed challenges.

3-create@2x.jpg

Create

Under the guidance of these eight individuals you will be creating light-prototypes you can take back to your office, home and community.

Why only 100 people?

100 person or smaller organizations have launched most of everything we know of today. Yes, scale happens with more than 100 people, but to create something together you need a small, impassioned and driven group of individuals. That is the 100.

Our Values

Our speakers, sponsors and attendees may come from different places and backgrounds, but they all share these common values:

Future Positive

With so much doom and gloom via news or fake news for that matter in the present. We find it important, no, vital, to be future positive. Every day brings advancements that can be used for good, to lift people out of poverty, to live in harmony with our planet and allow all people make a difference no matter how small it might seem.

Solution Oriented

Talking about challenges is imperative to understanding how to approach problems or issues in our world, but we don’t like to dwell on the challenge. We like to use creativity and numbers to see how we can find solutions, big or small.

Empathetic

It might at first seem misplaced, but it is paramount to our mission. Without it, The 100 does not work. We, as a group of organizers, our format, our approach is different. To appreciate these differences as well as the differences of our speakers, the content and the participants on the journey with you, you have to be empathetic to their position and needs. Having empathy will lead to you learning the most, because you’ll be in others shoes to the entire time you’re with us.

Adventure and Fellowship

When the table is full and the drinks are plenty this is the toast of Jeff Bezos. To ‘adventure and fellowship’. What does that mean? Simple, be curious, take risks, enjoy the ride as much or more than the destination, and be congenial to those around you while doing it. We couldn’t say it better so, thanks Jeff.
